Boris and Mavis...

Shortly after spotting Boris Blackbird in a neighbouring garden, Mavis Blackbird was well and truly smitten by Boris's dashing but rather ruffled black feathered look and his polished yellow beak...

She on the other hand was extremely elegant and refined.
Boris was captivated by her at their very first meeting...

It wasn't long before the two blackbirds had set up home together in an old conifer tree covered in ivy providing them with both food and shelter.
Boris Blackbird was going to be a proud father and as we all know parenthood comes with a whole set of new responsibilities and challenges, so whilst Mavis Blackbird was sitting on their nest he thought he would enjoy a little freedom and make the most of a beautiful sunny day...

Feeding and protecting their precious youngsters proved to be a full time job...

Sadly only one youngster survived but the end result was well worth their endless hours of devotion...

Good Luck little one.

Until the next time, keep smiling,
 stay safe, happy and healthy.
Hugs to all.

  8. Your bird photos are truly amazing, Prunella!
I love blackbirds (who wouldn't?) and perhaps also some of their relatives sing beautifully.
It's a wonderful love story. :) The protagonists' names first made me think of politics, but then fortunately also of Miranda Hart's book... I'm a fan of hers and, yes, now also a fan of the little family Blackbird.
Thank you for your delightful posts. Big hugs! xx
